Revisiting an App Idea

Beta Mixer screens.

I will release three apps by the end of this year.

In the past I’ve written about using a couple different app ideas to test out no code and recently vibe coding tools. One of those has been the climbing wall app (more on that VERY soon) the other is a small climbing game.

I had abandoned the last attempt after getting stuck at a dead end, and got busy with other work. But a recent inquiry by my son who leads a climbing club, and a desire for a quick side quest prompted me to revisit it. I budgeted 48 hours to dust it off and see what I could do.

The game is a take on a classic climbing game where a climber points out the holds to use on a spray wall for another climber. My version adds a Twister style spinner so the selection of hold and whether you move a hand or foot is random. Beta Mixer will be in the App Store shortly. It has a customizable spinner to match your wall’s hold colors, auto spin and announce results mode for solo use, and a couple more features in the pipeline. It’s a simple app, no accounts or tracking, no ads, nothing you don’t need. Look for it in the App Store soon.
